GIS Networks

A number of GIS networks have been established around Queensland. The aim of these networks is to provide regional support and information on GIS and Spatial Technologies.

Each of these networks are supported by industry to further develop links. The details for these networks are outlined below. Contact the specified person for each region if you are interested in furthering your GIS circles.

There are a number of GIS teacher networks operating in Queensland. These include:- 

 Education Queensland has created a statewide listserv for all teachers interested in spatial technologies.  To join the discussion list, go to the Education Queensland home page (http://education.qld.gov.au/), select 'Discussion lists', 'Subscribe', then select 'GIS for Schools'. Regional networks have also been developed. 

Bayside GIS (Moreton Bay area) - subscribe as above but select 'Bayside GIS'

SUNGIST (Sunshine Coast GIS Teachers Network) - contact to be added to the list.  An EQ listserv option will become available

FUNIGSEd (Far North QLD GIS Educators) - contact Tony Dawson to be added to the list.  An EQ listserv option will become available.  FUNGISEd is a sub group of FUNGIS (Far North QLD GIS User Group) http://www.spatialsciences.org.au/PopUps/popup_event.asp?ID=368

BRIS-GIS contact Rebecca Nicholas to be added to the list. BRIS-GIS is supported by the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) Young Professionals and the QLD Spatial Information Office (QSIO).

STiNGERS (Spatial Technologies Northern Educators) - contact Bruce Galletly or Peter Jenner to be added to the Townsville sub-group or Rod Kleimschmidt to get involved with the Mackay group.  STiNGERS is endorsed and supported by the SSI Northern Group.

TIGGIS (Teachers Interest Group in GIS - Darling Downs) - contact Lyn McGovern or Meegan Maguire to be added to the list.  An EQ listserv option will become available.  TIGGIS is a sub group of DIGGARS (Downs Interest Group in GIS and Remote Sensing) www.diggars.org.au/

CQwithGIS (Central QLD GIS) - contact Lee Fisher or Meegan Maguire t be added to the list.  CQwithGIS is supported by the Office of Economic and Statistical Research (oesr) Rockhampton.

A network have recently been created in Hervey Bay.  If you wish to create or coordinate a regional network, please contact Meegan Maguire on GIS Resources
