DESCRIPTION:https://www.gtaq.com.au/event-1699185\n\n \n  2014 Annual GTAQ Conference\n   \n    RISING TIDES\n    PEOPLE · PLACES · PEDAGOGY\n     A CONFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCED\, BEGINNING & PRE-SERVICE PRIMARY & SECONDARY TEACHERS\n    Friday 25th July - Three fieldwork experiences will be on offer (including all meals and transport):\n        * Bauers Organic Farm – Farm Tour and activities related to sustainable farming (for both the Australian Curriculum & Senior Curriculum)\n\n        * SEQ  Water Hinze  Dam – Practical activities for students (building the SEQ water grid) and the dam story (for the Australian Curriculum).\n\n        * Second Nature –  Catchment Management for the Senior Curriculum\n\n  Saturday 26th July - Main conference\, University of Queensland\, St Lucia\n    Key Note Speakers\n  Aunty Macrose Elu\, an academic and Torres Strait Islander from Saibai - one of the six most vulnerable islands in the Torres Strait that could be highly vulnerable to even moderate sea level rises. Aunty Macrose Elu will provide an insight into her first-hand experience of these ‘Rising Tides’ and discuss ways in which the affected communities and the Government are managing the issue.\n  Sandie Cornish is Province Director of Mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart in Australia and New Zealand. Sandie previously led the highly regarded Hong Kong based international human rights agency\, the Asian Centre for the Progress of Peoples.
